Sue Gartland, operator of the Delta Animal Shelter receives a check for $568.01 from the fifth-grade students of Ellaine Ferrari at the Jones Elementary School in Gladstone. The youngsters in the classroom vowed to ask at least five friends or neighbors for their returnables and each student was responsible for returning the bottles and cans, then bringing the proceeds to school to be tallied into the classroom total.
