Congress and Sandy relief

December 27, 2012
Daily Press

EDITOR:

The United States Congress is finally getting around to funding relief for Hurricane Sandy. Problem is, there is a whole lot of stuff in the bill that does not belong there. There is an appropriation for $150 million for fisheries in Alaska and Mississippi.

What do they have to do with Hurricane Sandy? $50 million to National Parks "preservation fund." Really?

$9 million to repair and replace vehicles for Department of Justice and Homeland Security. I can see if they were replacing vehicles in the storm region, but that isn't where the money is going.

$16 trillion in debt. They keep doing the same thing, hoping for a different outcome. That is the definition of insanity
