Assault case on its way to circuit court

ESCANABA - Three Escanaba residents, recently arrested following a year-long investigation into the assault of a Bark River man, have been bound over to circuit court.

Michael Scott Jones, 19, Ashley Marie Stodola, 20, and Alyna Caryn Brunette, 21, were recently arrested in connection with a home invasion in Bark River Township on Oct. 22, 2011, when a 41-year-old resident was allegedly assaulted, according to Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post.

Jones is charged with first-degree home invasion - a 20-year felony, conspiracy to commit larceny from a person - a 10-year felony, and felonious assault - a four-year felony. He remains lodged in Delta County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond.

Stodola is charged with conspiracy to commit larceny from a person. She remains lodged in jail in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond.

Brunette is charged with conspiracy to commit larceny from a person. She posted bond and was released from jail. She is scheduled to be sentenced in Delta County Circuit Court on Jan. 24.

Jones and Stodola are scheduled for supplemental pretrials in circuit court on Jan. 22 and Jan. 23, respectively, when dates may be set for either a plea or trial.
