HASTING, Minn. - Elizabeth Peterson, former Stonington resident, passed away on Dec. 17, 2012, in Hastings, Minn.
She was born to George and Gertrude (Bown) Millward on Dec. 31, 1915, in Diorite, Mich., and grew up in Marquette. A graduate of Northern Michigan University, she taught in the Gladstone Public Schools, and later in the School for the Blind in Kansas City, Kan.
She married Rev. Clifford Peterson on June 22, 1946, in Marquette. Elizabeth was a gracious person who enjoyed playing the organ and piano, knitting and weaving, the Cotorie and Herb Club, and Elderhostel trips.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Charles Millward, Les Millward, and Gwen Hansen; her husband, Rev. Clifford Peterson; and infant son, Jory.
Elizabeth is survived by sons, Tim (Marjorie), Greg (Penny), Rob (Lyn); also five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. Seventh St., Hastings, Minn., on Friday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m. A spring interment will be held in Marquette. Memorials are preferred to Audubon Society of Michigan, P.O. Box 15249, Lansing, MI 48901, or donor's choice.
