WELLS - William Charles "Bill" Longtine, 72, of Wells, Mich., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at home in Wells.
William was born Sept. 11, 1940, in Escanaba, the son of Charles and Mae (DeShambo) Longtine. He was raised in Escanaba and graduated from Holy Name High School. Following graduation,
Bill served his country in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He returned to Wells and was united in marriage to the former Karen Long. Together they owned and operated the Longtine Grocery in Wells for many years. Following his retirement he worked at the Super 8 Motel in Escanaba. Bill was a member of the St. Anthony Church in Wells. He loved spending time at his camp and doing woodworking. Bill was a skilled carpenter and he enjoyed watching his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include: sons, Kelly (Melissa) Longtine of Marathon, Wis., and Craig (Tracie) Longtine of Holland, Mich.; grandchildren, Tara, Troy and Paige; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his father, Charles; mother, May Longtine Way; his two sisters, Lynn Sargent and Kay LaMarche, preceded Bill in death.
Bill's family will receive friends on Saturday, Dec. 22, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Military rites conducted by the Delta County Veterans Council will follow at 10:45 a.m. Funeral services celebrating the life of William "Bill" Longtine will follow at 11 a.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier of the St. Thomas/St. Anthony Catholic Church officiating.
