WELLS TOWNSHIP - Two Escanaba men are scheduled to be arraigned in court today on charges of felonious assault for allegedly injuring a Bark River man earlier this week.

The assault occurred in Wells Township at around 1 p.m. Monday, according to a news release issued by Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post. Troopers were dispatched to the area following a report of an injured person attempting to walk away from the scene.

Police located the 41-year-old Bark River man. He was transported by ambulance to OSF St. Francis Hospital where he was treated for head injuries and released.

Two suspects were later arrested in connection with the alleged assault. A 31-year-old Escanaba man was apprehended after he fled on foot following a traffic stop and was chased by police Monday evening. In addition to felonious assault, the man is facing charges for drugs and also resisting and obstructing police.

A second suspect, a 23-year-old Escanaba man, was arrested without incident at a Delta County residence Tuesday morning, according to the news release. Names of the suspects are not being released at this time, pending their arraignments in Delta County District Court today. The incident remains under investigation.
