ESCANABA - Joan E. Case, 76, of Escanaba, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. She was born Dec. 25, 1935, in Oshkosh, Wis., and was the daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Schanrock) Benedict.
Joan graduated from Winneconne, Wis., High School. She was employed at Miles Kimball Company in Oshkosh, Wis., before moving to Cornell in 1990 and then to Harbor Towers in Escanaba four years later. Joan was employed at Innosents in the Delta Plaza and then at the Michigan State Extension Service.
She loved animals and raised husky show dogs. She raised many grand champion huskies through the years.
Joan E. Case is survived by her sister, Betty (Al) Dahl of Cornell; nieces, Mary Jo Carlson of Cornell, Patti (Dale) Manninen of Watson; several great-nieces and nephews, and special friend, Bob Johnson of Escanaba.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Karen Dahl Sliva.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Joan E. Case will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Harmon officiating. Refreshments will be served during the visitation in the Anderson Funeral Home fellowship area.
Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh, Wis.
