PERKINS - Beatrice Marie "Bea" Branstrom, 89, of Perkins, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 16, 2012, following a lengthy illness at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba where she currently was residing.
Bea was born Jan. 5, 1923, in Perkins, the daughter of Phillip and Virginia (Miljour) Beauchamp. She was raised in Perkins and attended the Perkins Public Schools. She later received her high school diploma from White Pine High School.
Bea was united in marriage to Carl Branstrom on May 8, 1940, and they made their home in Perkins where they raised their four children. Bea was a secretary for Carl at Lindberg Construction from 1965 until they purchased Branstrom Grocery in 1976. Bea managed the store until 2005 when she sold the business.

Bea loved working at her grocery store. It was the perfect job for her where she could share stories about births, graduations and weddings. She always looked forward to customers coming into the store to catch up on what was happening in Perkins.
Bea was a lifelong member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and on the St. Anne Society. She also was a member of the Perkins American Legion Auxiliary.
Bea's family was most important to her. She always enjoyed spending time with them and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Her hobbies included working in her garden with her flowers and plants and sewing.
Survivors include: children, Jane (John) Nelson of Perkins, Stephen (Debbie) Branstrom of Bancroft, Mich., and Mark (Laurie) Branstrom of Perkins; daughter-in-law, Jean Branstrom of Gladstone; 14 grandchildren, John (Cheryl) Nelson, Laurie LeBlanc, Todd Nelson, James (Karen) Branstrom Jr., Wendy (Doug) Maki, Heather (Nathan) Koutz, Stephen (Tonya) Branstrom Jr., Shawn (Erin) Howe, Lacey (Mike) O'Donnel, Mark (Megan) Branstrom Jr., Carl Branstrom, Brett Branstrom and Hunter Branstrom; 20 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Erma Branstrom of Gladstone and Agatha Branstrom of Perkins; very special friend, Dale Schneider.
In addition to her parents, Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, on Sept. 10, 2001; son, James, in 2005; grandson, Robert Nelson, in 1993; two infant sisters; sister, Violet Demeuse Auer; four brothers, Wilfred, Russell, Henry and Ronald Beauchamp; special sister-in-law, Betty DeBacker.
Bea's family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 20, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6 p.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins with Rev. Fr. Jacek Wtyklo, Rev. Fr. Gilbert Neurohr and Rev. Emmett Norden officiating. Luncheon will follow in the St. Joseph Church Parish Hall. Bea will be laid to rest next to her husband Carl on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Perkins Cemetery.
