ESCANABA - William W. "Bill" Rogers, 85, 1920 22nd St., Escanaba, passed away late Friday afternoon, Dec. 14, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital.
He was born on Sept. 30, 1927, in Escanaba, son of Winfield and Naomi (Trombley) Rogers. Bill graduated from Escanaba High School in 1944.
Bill served in the U.S. Air Force from Feb. 5, 1951, until his honorable discharge on Feb. 4, 1955. He received the Korean United Nation and National Defense Service medals. He served in Korea.

On July 19, 1958, Bill married the former Rose Maycunich at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Escanaba.
Bill worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company as a switchman, retiring in 1990.
He was an active member of St. Anne's Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, alter server for funerals, lector, and was a member of the choir. He also participated in the Eucharistic Adoration at St. Francis Hospital.
Bill was a member of the American Legion and was a volunteer for the food pantry for St. Vincent de Paul Society.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing and being with his family.
Among survivors include his wife, Rose of Escanaba; children, William (Tara) Rogers of North Augusta, N.C., Thomas (Theresa) Rogers of Hyde, James Rogers of Escanaba, Teri (Sean) Kingston of Tucson, Ariz., Mary (Dave) Harris of Escanaba, Greg Rogers of LaQuinta, Calif., and Christopher Rogers of Escanaba; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Ratkovich of Wells, Shirley (Bill) Ness of Ford River and Betty (Wayne) Siarnicki of Newark, Ohio; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gladys Cole and two brothers, George and Robert Rogers.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5 p.m. at St. Anne's Church with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating.
Entombment will be in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.
The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Rogers family.
