POWERS - The North Central girls shook off a slow start Friday night, posting a 50-22 basketball triumph over the Munising Mustangs.
North Central led 8-6 after the first quarter and 23-11 at halftime of the Central U.P. Conference outing.
"We didn't shoot very well tonight," said Jets' coach Nikki Laurila. "They played a decent man-to-man (defense) and we were rushing our offense, especially in the first quarter. We did a little better in the second quarter. We got the ball into the post and they were fouling quite a bit."
The Jets (5-1 overall, 4-1 CUP) hit 14-of-60 field goals and collected 27 steals.
"Defensively, I thought we did a great job," said Laurila. "We did a great job rotating in our zone. They didn't get many open looks."
Morgan Wells paced the Jets with 14 points. Darcy Rochon added 12 points and nine rebounds. Dana Rochon had 11 points and eight steals.
