MARQUETTE - Eight people were arrested for trespassing Wednesday evening when they refused to leave the governor's district office in Marquette, according to Michigan State Police.

Ten protesters had entered the Northern Michigan Office at 3 p.m., requesting to speak with the governor's representative. They met with the office director who answered their questions and informed them the office closes at 5 p.m., said troopers.

After the office closed, the protesters were asked to leave or be arrested for trespassing. Two individuals left.

The remaining eight were arrested without incident for trespassing on state property.

They were later released on personal recognizance bonds and are scheduled to appear for arraignments in Marquette County District Court on Monday.
