I was driving down the highway the other day and noticed all the new medical buildings along the highway. I thought to myself how great it is that we have many choices when it comes to selecting our medical providers. That lead me to feeling very grateful about the providers I have seen in the last three years. When I say providers I mean not just the doctors, but the nurses, and the receptionists to. The ladies who answer the phone are the first ones to hear my needs and find a way to fit me in to a busy schedule, they have always done their best to meet my needs and offer a friendly word, even if they are swamped with phone calls and patients waiting to see the doctor, I have on occasion seen them get chewed out for something they have no control over and still be kind and respectful.
I'm not sure people think about that. Then comes the nurses who also greet me and and take care of my medical needs. There have been times when the nurses have spotted things going on with me even before the doctor. I have had a nurse even take the time to call about my lost cane and when I lost someone dear to me they just went the extra mile to be kind and caring. I'm not sure people think about that. Finally the doctors who have listened not just to my medical needs but any other concerns I may be experiencing that lead to bad health.
They have treated me with respect and dignity and not ran me out the office in 10 minutes due to a high volume of patients. I'm not sure people think about that. I have also had the same experiences when I was hospitalized.
The two places that I am talking about have been here the longest, and even when I have heard people talking about going out of town for better medical care, I smile and feel much gratitude to the people of OFS and our local hospital. I know that other medical facilities are probably just as nice, but this has always been my experience and for that I say thank you to all of you.
