Parade set for Friday in Esky

ESCANABA - Escanaba's Christmas Parade is set for Friday at 7 p.m. on Ludington Street. The parade participants will assemble at the Civic Center and the parade will travel east on Ludington Street through downtown Escanaba.

The 2012 Christmas Parade Prince and Princess have been selected. The Prince is Jon Jones, 3, son of Keith and Jacquie Jones of Escanaba. He attends Country School House and has two sisters, Bernice, 10, and Hannah, 6.

This year's Princess is Payton Moya, daughter of Jeff and Danielle Moya of Escanaba. She is 6 years old and attends Kindergarten at Lemmer School. She has one brother, Jax, who is 1 year old.

The young Prince and Princess are the official greeters of Santa

on his arrival to Escanaba, and will serve as the grand marshals of the parade Friday evening. Following the parade, the prince and princess and their families will have a private celebration with Santa.

Parade participants who are taking part in judging are asked to be at the Civic Center by 6 p.m. Judging will start at 6 p.m. in two categories - Youth and Open. First-, second- and third-place cash prizes will be awarded.
