Downtown businesses damaged; 2 arrested

ESCANABA - Several businesses in downtown Escanaba were vandalized with spray paint Monday night, according to Escanaba Public Safety, which arrested two suspects.

A male and female, both from Escanaba, were arrested for the malicious damage of property following investigation into complaints of downtown buildings being spray-painted, said police this morning. The two were lodged in jail and were scheduled to be arraigned in Delta County District Court this morning.

Businesses reported being spray-painted included Great Lakes Fitness at 1019 Ludington St., Renaissance Academy of Beauty at 1013 Ludington St., Schwalbach Kitchens at 1009 Ludington St., Delft Night Club at 907 Ludington St., Anderson-Tackman and Co. at 901 Ludington St., and Nyman's Signs at 109 S. 10th St.
