GULLIVER - Arbutus "DeeDee" May Snyder, 87, of 660 N Corbridge Road, Gulliver, Mich., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique.
DeeDee was born April 21, 1925, in Marquette, Mich., to the late Homer and Ida (Desotelle) Roy.
On June 4, 1941, she married Leo J. Snyder in Marquette and they lived most of their lives in Gulliver. Leo preceded DeeDee in death on June 13, 1985.

She cooked in the Heinz Camp, cleaned homes and cabins and was a receptionist at the Hair & Sun Spot. DeeDee loved cooking and caring for her family, baking, playing cards and watching her birds and deer in the backyard. She especially loved deer hunting.
DeeDee is survived by her daughters, Patsy (Claude) Wilcox of Suring, Wis., Nancy (Dean) Miller of Gillett, Wis., and Wanda (Michael) McKenzie of Gulliver; son-in-law, Stanley Zellar of Gulliver; sister-in-law, Eileen (Ephriam) Cobb; 22 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, DeeDee was preceded in death by son, Larry Snyder; daughter, Joanne Zellar; great-grandson, Peter Wilcox; special friend, Calvin Johnson; brothers, Norman (Pug) Roy and Louis (Lela) Roy; sisters, Florence (Chum) Heminger, Pearl (Lee) Tweedale, Genevieve (Gordon) Hamill and Lillian (Joe) Stites; brother in-laws, Swede (Joyce) Snyder, Robert (Jean) Snyder and Vernon Snyder; and sister-in-laws, Dorothy (Bill) Jenerou, Bernice Snyder, and Marie (John) McCloud.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30, at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Father Glenn Theoret officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Manistique on Saturday, Dec. 1.
