ESCANABA - An Escanaba man was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for having a weapon while lodged in the county jail this summer. The judgment was handed down in Delta County Circuit Court earlier this week.

William Robert Haack, 29, of 314 S. 16th St., Apt. 2, Escanaba, pleaded guilty to possession of a weapon in jail. He was found to be in possession of a handmade knife in the Delta County Correctional Facility on June 21, 2012.

Haack - who was sentenced as a habitual offender, third offense - was ordered Tuesday to spend two to 10 years in prison to be served consecutively to a previous sentence. He was also sentenced to pay $198 in fines and costs.
