GLADSTONE - Adele (Cormier) Bishop passed away at Bishop Noa Home on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012.
Adele was born July 15, 1927, in Wakefield and was the daughter of Erwin and Weda Cormier. She was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School. She graduated valedictorian of her class and was recipient of the American Legion Auxiliary Award and Daughters of the American Revolution Award.
She moved to Bay City, Mich. and married Robert Bishop in 1950. Adele and Robert lived in many places in Michigan while Robert was employed by the Michigan State Police. She arrived in Gladstone in 1968 with Robert and her three children.

Adele worked as a Manager of the Special Education Media Center for the Delta Schoolcraft Intermediate School District until she retired in 1996. Adele was an active member of the Gladstone Friends of the Library and always enjoyed books and reading current literature.
Adele was an avid tennis player and was always ready to "bat the ball around" with her children and friends. She spent many hours with her friends on the tennis courts enjoying spirited matches and good company. She stayed active on the Gladstone tennis courts until age of 78.
Her other hobbies included sewing and other crafts. Her backyard raspberry bushes were always on her mind in the summer, as she enjoyed making pies for her friends and family.
Adele was an active member of the Memorial United Methodist Church. She was also active in the ARC of Delta County for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Erwin and Weda Cormier; sister, Meryle; and brother, Jim.
She is survived by her brother, Phil (Alice); and sister-in-law, Marie Cormier (Jim, deceased) of Wakefield; her sons, Mark (Julie) Bishop of Cary, N.C. and Tim (Sharon) Bishop of Charlotte, N.C.; granddaughters, Anne Bishop of Raleigh, N.C., Molly Bishop of Cary, N.C.; grandson, Matt Bishop; and granddaughter, Jordan Bishop of Charlotte, N.C. Her daughter and faithful lifelong companion, Diane Bishop, resides in Escanaba.
Adele's family will receive friends on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Adele Bishop will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Franklin Block officiating.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Robert, on Monday at 11 a.m. (CST) at the Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
