MANISTIQUE TOWNSHIP - A Manistique Township man received minor burns when he moved a burning truck out of his garage Monday afternoon, according to Manistique Public Safety.

Jason Hubble was welding on a truck inside his pole barn garage at 392N Cherry Hill Drive when the vehicle caught on fire around 2 p.m., said police.

"Hubble was able to move the truck outside to prevent the garage from burning but he received minor burn injuries in the process and was transported to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital by Manistique Public Safety Ambulance," stated Public Safety Director Ken Golat in a news release.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, the truck was engulfed in flames in the driveway. The blaze was immediately extinguished but the vehicle was totally destroyed, said Golat. No other injuries were reported.

Officers were assisted at the scene by Michigan State Police and Schoolcraft County Sheriff Department.
