As a resident of N.7 Lane for over 25 years I can positively state it is a wonderful place to live. As an American Motorcycle Association member for 15 years and a former ice racer I fully understand the family fun this sport offers. The problem here is very simple. Location! This motor sport needs to have a venue in a rural area from private residential property. It's called respect. It's very evident the noise this sport creates as it can be heard for miles. Property values are affected and so are the families lives of those who live around it.
This issue has been forced to the township residents with a like it or not attitude from the beginning. Yes, the township is spending money to fight this racetrack. Thank God. It is their responsibility to enforce township ordinances. If this is allowed it basically means there are no laws and do whatever you want in Escanaba Township.
I'm sure a great majority of the residents of Lake Bluff and other communities of Escanaba Township would agree with me if this track was next to them. It's a great winter sport that needs a proper location, it's that simple.
