Tea Party statement

November 5, 2012
Daily Press

EDITOR:

The Delta Area Tea Party Patriots is an independent association of like minded people who are gathered together to educate interested parties about the role of the Tea Party and it's relation to society using the principles of the founding fathers as our guide.

We have developed a set of core beliefs which we feel encompass our rights and guide our responsibilities as patriotic Americans.

They are:

1. We believe in upholding the United States Constitution as written and amended.

2. We believe in smaller, less intrusive government.

3. We believe the laws of our nation, both current and future apply to all citizens of this country, and include citizens and elected officials at all levels unless constitutional exceptions exist.

To further explain these beliefs, we offer the following as examples:

1. We believe in upholding the United States Constitution as written and amended.

A. Abolish the act commonly known as "Obama Care". The Commerce Clause does not authorize nor empower the government to force citizens to obtain specific goods and/or services against their will.

B. Balance the federal budget via amendment to the constitution if necessary

C. Revitalize our national security system and establish English as the official language of government.

D. Restore the proper role of the judicial branch by using the clearly delineated powers available to the president and Congress to correct, limit or replace judges who violate the Constitution.

E. Limit federal spending to the extent of federal revenues

2. We believe in smaller, less intrusive government

A. Specifically targeted funding/subsidization to private companies or corporations be prohibited in the federal budget.

B. A return to job creation through tax cuts and regulatory reform, training and education to encourage work and improve the quality of our workforce.

C. Realize America's full energy independence potential in oil, natural gas, coal, biofuels, wind and nuclear.

D. Maximize the impact of medical breakthroughs by removing unnecessary obstacles that block new treatments from reaching patients and emphasizing research.

3. We believe the laws of our nation, both current and future, apply to all citizens of this country, and include citizens and elected officials at all levels unless constitutional exceptions exist.

A. Save Medicare and Social Security by giving Americans more choices and tools to live with greater financial independence.

B. Control our borders and reform the legal visa system making it easier for law abiding visitors to enter and deport criminals.

C. Enforce the 10th Amendment and create a transfer of power and responsibility from the federal government back to the states.

We will work with and support both private and public groups who agree with our stance, and will vigorously oppose those who wish to maintain any system which currently is, or tends toward violation of the constitution and its principles.
