Arlene ‘Nana’ B. Jerow

ESCANABA - Arlene "Nana" B. Jerow, 96, Escanaba, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba. She was born on Dec. 15, 1915, in Escanaba, the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (Eckes) Shanahan.

On Oct. 29, 1937, she married the late George F. Jerow who passed away in 1975.

Arlene enjoyed bowling, shopping, playing cards and going to bingo. She also volunteered at many different community organizations throughout the years.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathryn (James) Sundalius, Mary (Ralph) Dusenbery and Lois Brazeau; one sister, Frances "Babe" Buchholtz; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Mildred Jerow and Helen St.Vincent; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Roger and Lawrence Shanahan; one sister, Geraldine Wilcox; and a son-in-law, Richard Brazeau.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (EDT) on Friday, Nov. 2, at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home, 400 S. 10th St., Escanaba, MI 49829. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. (EDT) on Friday at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Parish with Fr. Eric Olson officiating. Burial will follow Mass in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
