CARTHAGE, Mo. - Kristina Donna Martin Lewis, 42, Carthage, passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital, Carthage, from complications of lupus.
Kristina Donna Martin was born Jan. 23, 1970, in Escanaba, the daughter of Gary Martin and Kathy Violette Martin. Kristina was a 1988 graduate of Gladstone High School, Gladstone, and received her EMT certification from the University of Iowa.
She married Douglas Lewis on May 31, 1998, in Crocker, Mo. She and her husband moved to Nevada, Mo., in 1999, then to Carthage in 2000.

Kristina worked as a certified paramedic in Vernon and Barton County and was currently employed by the Carthage R-9 School System working as a teacher's assistant in Special Education at Fairview Elementary, Carthage. She was currently studying to become a registered nurse. Kristina was a gifted musician and was fluent in several languages. A proud moment in her life was serving as a first responder during the 2011 tornado in Joplin. Kristina was a member of the First Christian Church, Carthage, and was a Carthage Junior High Band Booster.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas Lewis of Carthage; her parents, Gary and Kathy Martin of Gladstone; a son, Michael Martin of Houghton; a daughter, Adrianna Lewis of Carthage; a stepdaughter, Corene Lewis and a stepson, Timothy Lewis of Longbeach, Miss.; a sister, Kerri (Steve) Edwards of Farmington, Minn.; a niece, Kaitlin Edwards and nephews, Riley and Jaeger Edwards of Farmington, Minn.; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and a very special friend, Debbie Denome of Escanaba.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 67 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov., 2, at the First Christian Church, Carthage. Rev. David Cook will officiate. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage.
