ESCANABA - Helen Sprague of Northwoods Assisted Living Concepts in Escanaba recently marked her 95th birthday with two separate celebrations. One was held in the Embers Room at the Terrace Supper Club where family and friends joined her. This event was hosted by her three sons, Tom (Karen) from Greendale, Wis., Gerry (Shirley) from Omro, Wis., and Steve (and friend Amy) from Oakland, Calif. There was a second celebration at the Northwoods facility, which included birthday cake, ice cream and refreshments. All residents, friends, and family attended.

Helen has always enjoyed cultural events and is frequently seen enjoying such activities at either the Escanaba High School, Bay de Noc Community College, or Bonifas Auditorium as well as various church functions.

Up until recently, Helen frequently knitted prayer blankets both privately and through the First Presbyterian Church for shut-ins and others in need.
