Lessards celebrate 61 years of marriage

GLADSTONE - Ken and Mary Lessard will be celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary on Oct. 27.

Ken and the former Mary Bulchak were married on Oct. 27, 1951, during a ceremony that took place at St. Anne's Church in Escanaba.

Attending the bride were her sisters, maid of honor, Shirley Nelson/Larson, and the late Geraldine Londo. The groom's brother, the late Francis Lessard, stood as best man, and brother Lloyd Lessard was the groomsman.

Ken is a graduate of Gladstone High School. He is retired from Super Valu in Gladstone where he worked for 25 years. He is a member of the Delta Coin Club and currently makes doll cradles and tool boxes and donates them to St. Vincent de Paul to distribute to needy children in the area for Christmas.

A graduate of Escanaba High School, Mary worked for First Bank in Gladstone before her retirement. She enjoys knitting and taking care of "the dog." She also enjoys lunching with Escanaba and Gladstone girls.

The Lessards are the parents of a daughter, Susan Timmer of Gladstone. They also have two grandchildren, Lee Timmer of Gladstone and Liberty Timmer of Marinette, Wis.
