Effie M. Beauvais

ESCANABA - Effie M. Beauvais, 88, Escanaba, passed away on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. She was born on April 29, 1924, in Isabella, the daughter of the late Arthur and Yvonne (Hill) Valiquette.

On Aug. 5, 1942, she married Arthur Beauvais Sr. at St. Patrick's Parish in Escanaba.

Effie graduated from Bay College with an LPN degree and worked as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital in the nursery, where she always enjoyed being around all the newborn babies. She was a member of St. Joseph & St. Patrick's Parish, a volunteer for R.S.V.P. and the Y.M.C.A. Effie also enjoyed reading, traveling, swimming, biking and most of all, spending time with all her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, seven children, Sharon Beauvais, Donald (Patricia) Beauvais, Allen (Laura) Beauvais, Art (Carolyn) Beauvais Jr., Susan (Tom) Sauve, Mary Beauvais and Ken (Melody) Beauvais; one sister, Linda Vincent; many grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Effie was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Christine Peters and William Beauvais; three brothers, Arthur Jr., Ralph and Royal Valiquette; also a grandson, Ricky Beauvais.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, at St. Joseph & St. Patrick's Parish with Fr. Eric Olson officiating. A luncheon will follow Mass in the church parish hall.

Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
