ESCANABA - An Escanaba man was officially charged Monday with aggravated assault in connection with a fight at a local bar this past weekend.
Raymond Robert Derry, 21, of 309 S. 19th St., Escanaba, was arrested early Sunday by Escanaba Public Safety after officers responded to a 12:21 a.m. complaint of a bar fight at the Delft Night Club at 907 Ludington St.
During Derry's arraignment in Delta County District Court on Monday, he was charged with aggravated assault which carries a maximum punishment of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. Derry was later released from jail after posting a $1,000 cash bond.
The victim, a 30-year-old male from Escanaba, is recovering from his injuries at Marquette General Health System, said police.
