Don’t attack the library

October 20, 2012
Daily Press

A recent letter to the editor attacked and condemned the Escanaba Public Library and its personnel for not offering more religious, and conservative magazines, pamphlets, books, and newspapers. Wouldn't the writer consider the Wall Street Journal to be conservative? Also, most of the area newspapers are overwhelmingly conservative.

As far as religious beliefs, I may be wrong, but I don't think it's legal for the library to promote a religious viewpoint such as that put forth by the creation magazine.

There are many churches, and religious organizations in the area that offer information on their beliefs if they are asked for it. Lets keep religious, and conservative promotion out of our schools, and libraries. I don't know if the library personnel are liberal, conservative, or independent, and I don't care. I do know that these employees have always done their job correctly when I have used the facility. Since most of the employees are women is this attack by a conservative more proof that conservatives, and religious zealots really are waging a war against women?
