ESCANABA - Faye Barnes, 100, formerly of Lansing, Mich., passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at her home at Northwoods Assisted Living in Escanaba. She was born Nov. 8, 1911, in Turner, Mich., and was the daughter of Alex and Lena (Chapman) Boulter. Faye graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing and then attended Michigan State University and later Eastern Michigan University earning her bachelor of science degree in elementary education.
Faye taught school for 28 years, retiring in 1975 from Waverly Schools.
Faye Barnes is survived by: son, Douglas Barnes of Harper Woods, Mich.; daughter, Diane (Michael) Oxford of Gladstone, Mich.; grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Oxford and Kelly Oxford; great- grandchildren, Brandon Oxford and Breanne Oxford; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, in 1990; sister, Marjorie Lake, in 1995; and brother, Alec Boulter, in 1944.
Committal services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at DeepDale Memorials Gardens in Lansing. Entombment will take place next to her husband at DeepDale Mausoleum.
