Catholic teacher honored

October 17, 2012

MANISTIQUE - Each year the Catholic Holy Family Society recognizes a Catholic School teacher who exemplifies what it means to be a teacher in a Catholic School; someone who lives a Christian life of service to others.

Auna Oman, fourth-grade teacher, demonstrates this in the countless hour that she devotes to her students, after school sports, and Faith Life. Oman has spent summers in India, where she has gone with Rev. Hubby, and taught and worked with the less fortunate. She is an excellent role model for young people and very deserving of the award.

Oman was honored at her home parish in Ralph with a Mass/Award ceremony, with Mark Salisbury, superintendent of Catholic Schools officiating. A luncheon organized by parishioners followed and was attended by Salisbury, his wife, and many of Oman's family members.
