Bernice R. Larson

WELLS - Bernice R. Larson, 87, of 5712 1st Ave. N., Wells, Mich., died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1925, in Escanaba and was the daughter of John and Hilda (Wangberg) Bintner. Bernice attended school in Escanaba and was a member of the graduating Class of 1943. Following high school, she worked at the Photo Art Shop until marrying Robert Vernon Larson on Oct. 11, 1947, and last week the couple celebrated 65 years of marriage. Together they had two children and she devoted the rest of her time raising and caring for her family.

Bernice was a life-long member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba and throughout the years she was involved in many of the activities at the church.

Survivors include: her husband, Robert (Bob) Larson, Wells; two children, Mary (Jack) Conti, Hampshire, Ill., and Terry (Amy) Larson, Plymouth, Wis.; six grandchildren, Michael Conti, Chicago, Ill., Jennifer Trevino, Hampshire, Ill., Ryan (Kristina) Larson, Franklin, Wis., Hillary Larson, Madison, Wis., Robert Larson, Plymouth, Wis., Andrew Larson, Plymouth, Wis.; and six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, Jack, Joseph, and Jianna Trevino, all of Hampshire, Ill., and Benjamin Larson of Franklin, Wis. Bernice has one surviving brother, Robert (Maureen) Bintner of Escanaba, Mich.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Hilda Bintner; a brother, Ward (Eileen) Bintner; two sisters, Mildred (Carl) Engstrom and Shirley (Charles) Gold.

A visitation will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Bernice R. Larson will follow at 5 p.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church with Rev. Eric Heskin officiating. A meal will be served at the conclusion of the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery. Those wishing to offer a memorial in Bernice's honor are kindly asked to consider Bethany Lutheran Church, Escanaba, Mich.
