Edwin ‘Tony’ Wuehle

L'ANSE - Edwin "Tony" Wuehle died peacefully on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at the age of 87.

He worked in education as an elementary school teacher, a school principal, assistant superintendent of schools at Escanaba, superintendent of schools in Manistique, and president of Bay De Noc Community College. During this time he was active in various service clubs and organizations. He retired to Las Vegas to enjoy his favorite pastime of poker.

For the past five years he has lived in L'Anse with his son, Marty. There he enjoyed, gardening, poker, cribbage, and the fellowship at United Lutheran Church.

Edwin "Tony" is survived by his son, Marty Wuehle; his daughter, Michele Wuehle; his son-in-law, Joe Shaffer; his sister, Joyce Wuehle; his sister, Janice Willard; and 10 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at United Lutheran Church of L'Anse at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to Bay de Noc Community College, Edwin Wuehle Scholarship Fund, 2001 North Lincoln Rd., Escanaba, MI. 49829.
