ESCANABA - Scores of volunteers for the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Delta County were honored in mid-September during a recognition dinner held at the Danforth Place. Master of ceremonies was RSVP Policy Advisory Committee member, Terry Peerless.
Letters and greetings were shared by representatives of U.S. Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow, U.P. Representative Dan Benishek, and State Senator Tom Casperson. Guest speakers were: Delta County Sheriff Gary Ballweg, who spearheads the Delta County TRIAD; Cheri Severinson, president of the Delta County Cancer Alliance; and Lanna Scannell, community relations manager of OSF St. Francis Hospital and Medical Group.
Volunteers were awarded certificates and pins for their service from July 1, 2011, through March 31, 2012.

RSVP is funded by The Corporation for National & Community Service, Office of Services to the Aging, and United Way of Delta County. The program, sponsored by the MDS Community Action Agency and Human Resources Authority, Inc., is directed by Theresa Nelson. Kathy Neurohr is supervisor/secretary.
