WELLS - June E. "June Bug" Royer, 81, of 6454 N. 1st St., Wells, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba following a brief illness.
June was born Feb. 10, 1931, in Escanaba the daughter of Leroy and Ebba (Edmark) Cartwright. She was raised in Soo Hill and she graduated in 1949 from Escanaba High School. June was united in marriage to Joseph "Joe" Royer and they made their home in Escanaba. They later resided in Flat Rock, eventually moving to Wells in 1960. Joe preceded June in death on Nov. 24, 1973.
June drove bus for the Gladstone Public Schools and also worked numerous part time jobs. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, baking, playing the organ and bingo. She loved watching The Young and the Restless and family and friends knew not to disturb her during its airing.

Survivors include: children, Faye (Jerry) Ness of Rapid River, Gary (Pat) Royer of Escanaba, Tom (Bonnie) Royer of Wells, Dan (Cindy) Royer of Wells, Dave (Judy) Royer of Perkins and Tammy (Steve) Miron of Gladstone; brothers, Raymond Cartwright of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Roy (Roxanne) Cartwright of Soo Hill; sisters, Renelle (Hal) Hill of Lubbock, Texas, and Ardis (John) Anderson of Soo Hill; 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Mickey and Jan.
June was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, son Michael, grandson Randy and two sisters, Elaine La Pine and Gloria Purcell, and brother, Lenord Cartwright.
June's family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wells.
Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. Al Schubert officiating. Luncheon will follow at Our Savior Lutheran Church. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the Royer family.
