Service project was a success

October 8, 2012

This week's bouquets go to:

From The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program:

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of the MDS CAA HRA, Inc. in conjunction with the Upper Peninsula Volunteer Network and the UPCAP/ 2-1-1 Call Centers AmeriCorps*VISTA Community Resource Navigator hosted an intergenerational service project for 9-1-1 Day of Service and Remembrance. Volunteers of all ages and the above local collaboratives created decorative flower pots, angel charms and thank you cards which were presented to veterans at local nursing homes, assisted living and adult foster care facilities on Sept. 11, 2012.

This was a first time event for this partnership and we wish to thank all involved and believe that we did accomplish our goal of serving veterans on a special day by their buoyant sentiments.

There were 75 veterans throughout Delta County who received one-on-one tokens of appreciation.

Hats off to this first time initiative and hope to repeat it again next year.

From The U.P. Trappers Association:

"We would like to thank U.P. Whitetails Association, Inc. for their generous donation to our Trappers Education Program. They not only bought a Predator rifle and and electronic caller for a raffle - but they also bought the raffle tickets and provided workers to sell them at our convention. They raised $1,440 for our education program and we have already used some of the money to by items to be given away to our students."
