BAY DE NOC TOWNSHIP - Police have identified the victim of a fatal traffic accident that occurred in Bay de Noc Township Thursday morning.

Michigan State Police, who responded to the accident at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, said Kenneth Rogus, 73, of Oxford, Mich. was walking on New Wilsey Bay Road in Bay de Noc Township when he was struck by an eastbound pickup truck driven by 31-year-old Paul McCarty, of Rapid River.

Rogus was pronounced dead at the scene.

A traffic crash reconstructionist was called to the scene to investigate. The accident remains under investigation, though police say speed and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors.

Assisting State Police were the Delta County Victim Advocates, Masonville EMTs, Rampart EMS and the Delta County Sheriff's Department.
