Volunteers turned out to prepare snack bags for the third Honor Flight scheduled for Thursday. The bags will be placed in backpacks that will be given to the World War II veterans from throughout the Upper Peninsula and their guardians before their flight to Washington, D.C., to view the memorial built in their name. Working on the project are: from left around the table, Katie Derouin and her two children, Brayden and Braelyn; Deb LaPorte; Caron Nicholas; and Sue Beranek. A total of 78 veterans - including five women, a 100-year-old vet, and two pairs of brothers - are scheduled to be on the flight.
