WILSON - It was a day for Carney-Nadeau cross country teams to break into the win column Wednesday as they swept top honors in the North Central Division 3 Invitational.

The Carney boys retained their title with 26 points, followed by North Central 37 and Big Bay de Noc 63.

Carney's girls grabbed the top four spots and scored 18 points, followed by North Central 53 and Big Bay 59.

"This is kind of nice for the kids because they put in the work and get the reward," said Carney coach Jake Polfus. "It's nice for them to experience this. Anytime you get a trophy, it's great for the kids."

Carney senior Casey Charlier and junior Dionte Blahnik also recorded their first varsity victories on this cloudy, breezy and seasonably cool day.

Casey Charlier covered the 3.1-mile course in 23 minutes, 59 seconds, followed by Autam Wery (24:08), Morgan Dupont (25:39) and Samantha Charlier (25:42).
