EDITOR:
I recently read an article in the Daily Press that Gladstone is considering passing a smoke-free policy for their parks and beaches. I just wanted to congratulate them on this positive, and much needed step. Gladstone is my hometown and during the summer months when I come home to visit my family and friends I am disappointed in the amount of tobacco litter there always is on the beach. When my children play there I almost feel like I am letting them play in a community ashtray.
I look forward to visiting this beach again after the policy has passed, and Gladstone beach is once again the beautiful and pristine Lake Michigan coastline I remember from my youth.
