Forrest Charles Lever

ESCANABA - Forrest Charles Lever, 91, of 921 2nd Ave. S., Escanaba, passed away at his home in Escanaba.

He was born Sept. 30, 1920, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and was the son of James and Hazel Lever. He graduated from the Sault Ste. Marie High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Forrest served during World War II as a sergeant, sailing on the U.S. Plunkett. He and his fellow veterans sailing on the U.S. Plunkett received the Navy Unit Commendation Award. Forrest was employed at Mead Paper Company in Escanaba until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed golfing, fly fishing, hunting and collecting rocks. He was a member of the Escanaba Senior Center and the Highland Golf Club.

Forrest Charles Lever is survived by: brother, Shirley Lever of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; granddaughter, Sarah Griffith of Gladstone; two great-grandchildren, William and David Griffith; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers

Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Delta County Veteran's services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. A eulogy will be read by his granddaughter Sarah Griffith following the veteran's service. Burial will take place in the Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the charity of your choice. Envelopes will be available at the Anderson Funeral Home.
