Petoskey resident dies in U.P. house fire

ARVON TOWNSHIP - A 53-year-old man and his dog died in a house fire in Baraga County this weekend, according to Baraga County Sheriff Department which continues to investigate the cause of the blaze.

Mark Alan Stenke, of Petoskey, was staying at his second residence in Skanee in Arvon Township when his home caught fire at around 5 a.m. He and a small dog died in the fire which destroyed the house, according to the sheriff's department.

Arvon Township Fire Department and Aura Fire Department responded to the blaze and were at the scene for about five hours. A state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.
