Escanaba loses battle

September 7, 2012
Daily Press

STEPHENSON - A see-saw battle didn't quite go Escanaba's way Thursday night as it dropped a 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-13) volleyball decision to the Stephenson Eagles.

Alliyah Edwards led the Eskymos with four service aces and 13 kills. Holly Ettenhofer collected 19 assists and Ashley Cook had 10 digs.

"Rallies were well played by both teams," said Esky coach Bron Harmon. "Though, the match would have been much shorter if both teams had served better. For Escanaba, this was the poorest serving performance, but the best hitting performance this season. We continue to make improvements in system each time we compete."

The Eskymos are entered in "The Rock" Invitational at Gladstone on Saturday.

Escanaba - Edwards (four aces, 13 kills, seven digs); Fritz (six kills); Ettenhofer (five kills, 19 assists, seven digs); Wellman (five kills, six digs); Cook (10 digs).
