Constitution Day event

August 31, 2012
Daily Press

EDITOR:

Constitution Day is Sept. 17. With it being an election year; the Constitution is mentioned a lot. Rick Micheau, candidate for Delta County treasurer, and his parents, Bea and Richard Micheau, have coordinated an event for Gladstone and Escanaba High School students for Constitution Day.

The Micheaus have worked closely with state Rep. Ed McBroom and the local schools and have coordinated a morning seminar at Gladstone High. At 9 a.m. Mr. McBroom will be giving a 45 minute talk on the Constitution and then taking questions from the students. In the afternoon, Mr. McBroom will be doing a similar seminar at Escanaba High starting at 12:25 p.m.

When the Micheaus approached State Rep. McBroom with the idea, he jumped at the chance to participate. They then worked with the school officials to make it all come together. It is a great thing to see people involved in our community like this. To see people step up to the plate and do what they can for our youth, our local community, and our country. A big thank you to all involved.
