MANISTIQUE - Two Manistique residents, recently arrested on 27 charges related to burglaries in Schoolcraft County, will be appearing in court this fall. One pleaded guilty and will be sentenced and the other pleaded not guilty and will be scheduled for a trial.

Michael Alan Olsen, 24, and Samantha Jo Jenerou, 22, were arraigned in court last month on various charges for breaking and entering three homes in Manistique and three residences in Schoolcraft County.

Olsen recently pleaded guilty during a plea agreement in Schoolcraft County Circuit Court. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 25 on three felonies: home invasion, first degree; home invasion, second degree; and home invasion, third degree. The maximum punishment for first-degree home invasion is 20 years in prison.

Jenerou recently pleaded not guilty to charges filed against her. She is scheduled for a pretrial hearing in circuit court on Oct. 11 to determine when the case will go to trial.

Jenerou was charged with 14 counts including: one count of first-degree home invasion; four counts of second-degree home invasion; one count of attempted second-degree home invasion; one count of breaking and entering; one count of conspiracy to commit second-degree home invasion; one count of possession of burglary tools; three counts of larceny - more than $1,000 but less than $20,000; one count of stealing a financial transaction device; and one count of illegal possession of a financial transaction device.

Olsen was originally charged with 13 counts including: one count of first-degree home invasion; four counts of second-degree home invasion; one count of attempted second-degree home invasion; one count of breaking and entering; one count of conspiracy to commit second-degree home invasion; one count of possession of burglary tools; three counts of larceny - more than $1,000 but less than $20,000; and one count of illegal possession of a financial transaction device.

Olsen and Jenerou remain lodged in Schoolcraft County Jail each in lieu of a $25,000 cash bond.

Manistique Public Safety and Michigan State Police from the Manistique Detachment are the investigating agencies in the above arrests.
