PLACERVILLE - Harlan Yelland, 77, Placerville, Calif., passed away on Friday Aug. 24, 2012, following a short illness. He was born on Aug. 14, 1935, in Escanaba, where he was raised until he left for college, to the late Harlan and Edith Yelland.
He and his brother, Judd, went to Central Michigan University together. After graduating they were both drafted into the U.S. Army for two years. Following the service, Harlan went to San Francisco where he had a career in the financial world.
Harlan is survived by: his son, Sam Yelland, of the San Francisco area; one brother, Robert Yelland of Elgin, Ill.; the mother of his son, Jan Yelland; two close cousins, Judd and Bill Simmons of Northern California; as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister: Philles and one brother, Judd Yelland.
His family will have a private graveside committal service at a later date in Escanaba.
The Allo Coolman Funeral Homes are assisting his family with local arrangements.
