GLADSTONE The sky was overcast on Thursday when the Braves faced off against the Marquette Redettes. The bad weather stayed at bay, and allowed Marquette to come into town long enough to seal a 6-2 victory.
One of the Braves only two victories came by the hands of No. 3 singles player Lauren Parrett, who defeated Mallory Asano in convincing fashion, 6-3, 6-0. The other was from the No. 1 doubles pairing of Bridget Becker and Nicolle Trudeau, who edged out Laura Slovsky and Madelyne Connon over three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
The only other match of the day to go three sets was the No. 3 doubles Anna Caramella and Paige Schwartz, who suffered a tough defeat to Marquette's Brianna Buhl and Taylor Bovin, 6-4, 6-7, 0-6.

Gladstone's Gabby Movalson races to hit the ball during her first set Thursday against Marquette's Hannah Johnson. Johnson won the contest, 6-2, 6-0.
"It wasn't too bad for the first match," said Gladstone coach Rich Trombly. "We definitely left room for improvement (though). Too often we let them control the point."
Gladstone's season continues on Saturday at the Kingsford Invitational.
