ESCANABA - A girl who was struck by a motor vehicle while rollerblading earlier this month has been released from the hospital, according to Escanaba Public Safety.
The driver, Travis Anthony Reed, 23, of 711 N. 15th St., Gladstone, was arraigned in Delta County District Court and officially charged with reckless driving causing injury. The felony carries a maximum sentencing of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Reed was driving west when he allegedly struck the minor just after 11 p.m. on Aug. 6 while she was rollerblading in the 200 block of Ludington Street, according to Escanaba Public Safety.
Reed did not leave the scene of the accident, said police.
Following the incident, the victim was transported by Rampart Ambulance to the OSF Emergency Room then transferred to Marquette General Health System.
Reed's preliminary examination is scheduled in district court on Aug. 30.
