Eula Delores Erickson Booth

ESCANABA - Eula Delores Erickson Booth, beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at the age of 86, on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at 5:30 p.m. surrounded by family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Barberini; and her life partner, Laura Barberini; her sister, Belle Elaine Erickson Orzechowski; her youngest brother, Frederick Jon Erickson; her niece and god-daughter, Marion Orzechowski; her special nephew, John Erickson and his wife, Phyllis; and many treasured nieces, nephews, and their children and grandchildren.

Eula was born on Nov. 28, 1925, in Escanaba, the third child of Edward and Elizabeth Erickson. According to her sister Belle, Eula was the most beautiful, popular girl in town and walked to school with a boy on each arm. She loved to swim, skate, ski and especially to dance. She loved her mother's duck dinners. She loved the months she and her family would spend sailing down the Atlantic, the Mississippi and over to the Bahamas. Eula was always ready for any adventure.

After graduating from Escanaba High School she went to Chicago where she obtained her registered nursing degree from the prestigious Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center. She moved to California where she married Roy D. Booth and had her only child, Bonnie Beth.

In 1970, Eula returned to Escanaba, to the town that she loved, the people that she loved most and her beautiful Lake Michigan.

Eula, beautiful daughter, you are home now with God, Jesus and all the Angels and your family who has gone on before you your mother, Elizabeth Frances Corey Drake Sparks Erickson, your father, Edward Frank Erickson and brother, Edward Frank Erickson Jr.

Eula touched many hearts in her life. She loved the Lord and she loved to give through her flower ministry, her visits to senior centers, her prison ministry and in later years, her card ministry. She loved to pray and lift people up in prayer. If anyone was in trouble or had a need, she would call her prayer team, Sally Mosher, Cecilia Harrison, Sharon Moniowczak, Barb Synder and Lila Apsey of Escanaba and Anne Copeland and Eddie O'Neal of her Las Vegas team and ask everyone to pray. She had powerful prayers!

Eula was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church in Escanaba and also a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Las Vegas. Eula was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star R.C. Hathaway Chapter 49 and had served in many positions and as worthy matron. She had also been a member of the Grand Family.

Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Skradski Family Funeral Home of Escanaba, 118 S. 12th St. Funeral service, officiated by Pastor Margery Host, will take place the next day, on Monday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 302 S. 6th St. After the service, a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting Eula's family with arrangements.
