MENOMINEE - Menominee County Federal Credit Union has announced the following seniors were awarded one of three $500 scholarships.
The recipients are Mariah Farnsworth and Taylor Granquist.
The purpose of Menominee County Federal Credit Union scholarships is to recognize and assist members in the achievement of their educational and citizenship potential.
Mariah Farnsworth of Wilson graduated from Bark River-Harris High School with a 3.45 GPA. While in high school, Mariah was a member of the National Honor Society, Bay College Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Leo Club and Yearbook.
She also volunteered and participated in many fundraisers such as Walk 4 Warmth, March of Dimes, End the silence, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund, UNICEF, Delta County Animal Shelter and the Domestic Violence Women's Shelter.
Mariah plans on attending the Bay de Noc Community College this fall to pursue a career in the criminal justice field.
Taylor Granquist of Powers, graduated from North Central High School with a 3.951 GPA. While in high school, Taylor was active in National Honor Society, Key Club, and Healthy Youth Coalition. Taylor was also a member of the cross country, track, basketball and volleyball team.
Taylor has also spent time volunteering with her church on Mission trips to help those less fortunate.
Taylor plans on attending Northern Michigan University in the fall to pursue a career as a pediatrician.
