ESCANABA - Lauie L. Larson, 57, of E4858 Hwy M-35, Escanaba, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba.

She was born Jan. 23, 1956, in Santa Monica, Calif., and was the daughter of Ernest and Patricia (Doucette) LaFave. Laurie moved to Escanaba in 1956. She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1973 and then attended Bay de Noc Community College and later Northern Michigan University in Marquette.

The former Laurie LaFave married Bent Larson on Oct. 12, 1988.

Laurie loved children and cared for many young people in this area.

She had a passion for animals, would take distressed animals into her home and enjoyed writing including writing poetry. Laurie cherished her annual trip to the Haymeadow campground with a group of friends known as the "Bozos."

Laurie L. Larson is survived by her husband, Brent; son, Caleb; daughter, Stacy Miron; three grandchildren, Sidney, Justin and Erinn; one great-grandchild, Aida; parents, Ernest and Patricia LaFave of Escanaba; special sister-in-Law, Becky Espinosa; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at the Salvation Army fellowship area, at the Salvation Army in Escanaba. A meal will be served follow the services at the Salvation Army fellowship area. The Anderson Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the family with the arrangements and online condolences can be sent to the family at
