ESCANABA - Voters in Tuesday's primary election selected Mary Harrington to represent District 3 on the Delta County Board of Commissioners.

By a vote of 330 to 249, the incumbent Harrington won over challenger Brady Nelson. Both candidates ran as Democrats for the position.

"I just want to thank the people that got out and supported me," said Harrington. "I look forward to working hard representing the people of the district."

Nelson expressed his disappointment in the loss, but said he still looks forward to working hard on the Escanaba City Council in moving the city forward.

"Obviously I'm disappointed," said Nelson. "I congratulate Mary on her win. I thought the county had some budgetary concerns that I could have helped clear some of those things."

The District 3 commissioner represents Escanaba Precinct 2, as well as both Ford River and Bark River townships.
